Ian Morris. Text and photos by Nico Macdonald. Ian lives in Cromwell Tower, with his wife Sandra and daughter Alma. They have a traditional cork noticeboard that isn't used much. It is in a utility room that only has access from the galley-style kitchen. They don't have a shopping list in the kitchen as they don't buy food in advance. "I buy for what I want to cook", says Ian. "I know what we have, and if I need to I call Sandra from supermarket". A more contemporary magnet board in their office gets more attention. Incoming mail is sorted for Sandra, Alma, Ian, and Ian's company. Wire trays, cast-offs found in the streets outside local City of London offices, are labelled to do, misc and archive. Despite the system they do sometimes forget to pay bills. Receipts are gathered over the year, stuffed into trays, and sorted from their crumpled heaps when the tax man beckons. They don't have a diary. "It is delegated to Sandra's Filofax", explains Ian. "I keep tasks in my head - ticking things off doesn't do anything for me." |
